Apprenticeships

Funding is available to contribute towards the cost of apprenticeships.

Non-levy payer

As an employer, if you are not required to pay the apprenticeship levy or if you are a levy-paying employer with insufficient funds, you are only responsible for contributing 5% towards the training and assessment costs of your apprentice.

The government will generously cover the remaining costs, up to the maximum amount specified by the funding band.

Levy payer

Employers access government funding for apprenticeships through their apprenticeship service account.

The amount of funding that an employer paying the apprenticeship levy can access is linked to:

  • the value of their levy contributions
  • the proportion of employees living in England
  • a government top-up
