Against the parking on Roads on Britannia & Europa Way
Dear Mr Tipper,
I refer to the petition, signed by local businesses opposed to parking on roads on Britannia & Europa Way, Lichfield. I can advise you that receipt of the petition will be reported to Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport.
An open meeting was held with County Councillor Janet Eagland, District Councillor Ian Pritchard, county council highways officers and Britannia/Europa Way business representatives on 12 June 2018 to discuss a way forward on the parking issues at the business park. It was agreed that a cost estimate to install potential parking restrictions would be provided by Amey, the Council’s strategic partner, and that this would be brought to the businesses to consider providing a contribution towards the overall costs of installing the restrictions. Councillor Eagland also agreed to make a contribution towards the scheme from her community highway fund.
Parking restrictions have to go through a consultation and legal process, a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), to make them legally valid and enforceable. The process can take a number of months, dependant on how many objections there are to the proposals and the nature of the objections. The quickest a TRO can be delivered is within 4 months, but typically they take 9 months to deliver from start to finish. I would like to reassure businesses that the Council has taken on board the concerns raised and is now starting to move toward delivering parking restrictions in this area. All affected stakeholders will be fully consulted during the TRO process and will get opportunity to comment on any proposals.
Yours sincerely
Amanda Felton
