Install a Zebra Crossing on the Avenue, Kidsgrove

Dear Councillor Robinson

I refer to the petition, signed by local residents regarding a request to install a zebra crossing on The Avenue. Kidsgrove. I can advise you that receipt of the petition will be reported to Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport.

Having already prioritised a pedestrian count using part of your Divisions Highway Programme (DHP) funding, once undertaken, the information will be used to complete a Pedestrian Crossing Assessment to determine its score which will subsequently be reported back to you.

This score will identify whether there is justification to progress a crossing via the Integrated Transport fund since the cost of a crossing exceeds by far the DHP fund. Unfortunately, if it is not justified there is no other funding available and the request will not be possible to progress.

In terms of a possible School Crossing Patrol (SCP), as you may be aware there is a proposal currently to remove those already in place. However, as is the case where there is a SCP currently, where a new one is wanted the ability for the community to fund the provision, with ourselves funding the management, training and equipment, is an option which may be available for further exploration.

Should you require further information regarding your petition please contact David Greatbatch on (01538) 483022.

Yours Sincerely

Amanda Felton
