Issues with speeding and parking along Glebe Road, Cheadle
I refer to the petition, signed by local residents regarding speeding and parking issues along Glebe Road, Cheadle. I can advise you that receipt of the petition will be reported to Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport.
In the first instance I can confirm that the requests from the residents of Bassett Close and Rawle Close for parking restrictions at the junctions with Glebe Road have been priorities by County Councillor Deaville for investigation via his Divisional Highway Programme (DHP), following which a proposed restriction will be put forward for informal consultation with the residents and County Councillor.
With regards to the concern about vehicle speeds, because the locations will change subsequent to the implementation of parking restrictions any survey considered necessary should wait until the Traffic Regulation Order has been implemented.
In the meantime residents may wish to consider establishing a Community Speed Watch (CSW) which not only highlights to drivers through the area the need to drive sensibly, appropriately and in accordance with the 30mph speed limit, but it can also provide information of vehicle speeds which may assist in determining if further action is required beyond the CSW presence.
Further information of the CSW initiative may be found via the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership website.
Should you require further information regarding your petition please contact David Greatbatch on 01538 483022.
Your Sincerely
Amanda Felton
