My child does not have a school place

1

Has your child received a permanent exclusion from their current school?

Yes: Please see our separate information regarding permanent exclusions.

No: Go to number 2.

2

Our online search and compare tool will help you to find information about your nearest schools, including performance information, teacher/pupil ratios and much more. Please complete the in-year admission form and return this to your preferred school as soon as possible. If you wish to apply for a school place outside of Staffordshire you will need to approach the authority where the school is located.

3

Schools process applications as soon as they can and they will try to process your application in 10 school days. If however you do not receive a response at the very latest within 15 school days, then please contact the school directly to request a written response.

4

If your child is refused a place at your preferred school you have the right to appeal this decision to an independent appeals panel. Families experiencing difficulties in obtaining a local school place are advised to email admissions@staffordshire.gov.uk for assistance.

When considering changing your child's school, or if you are moving into the area, it is important to note that transport will only be provided in line with the county council’s transport policy and usually is only provided if your child is attending “the nearest school with vacancies”.
