Climate action fund Part 2

Part Two - applications between £3,000 and £5,000

Opening for applications from 8 October 2024

Applications are invited under the categories of:

  • Circular economy
  • Renewable energy

Please note funding for educational/training workshops or events is not eligible under part two of the Climate Change Fund.

What is a circular economy?

The circular economy is a model designed to minimise waste and make the most of resources. Unlike the traditional linear economy, which follows a "take-make-dispose" pattern, the circular economy emphasises sustainability through seven principles:

  • Reduce
  • Reuse
  • Recycle
  • Redesign
  • Repair
  • Renew products
  • Recovery for reuse into a new product.

Applying circular economy principles aims to create a more sustainable approach to reducing environmental impact, conserving resources, and creating innovations.

What sort of things can I apply for under the circular economy category?

1. Repair and refurbishment initiatives:

  • Establishing community repair cafes or workshops.
  • Refurbishing and/or reselling used electronics, furniture, or appliances.

2. Recycling and upcycling programs:

  • Innovative recycling programs that transform waste materials into new items.
  • Upcycling initiatives that creatively repurpose waste materials into new items.

3. Sharing and leasing platforms:

  • Platforms for sharing items such as tools, equipment, or vehicles within the community.
  • Leasing models for products like clothing, electronics, or furniture.

Renewable energy

Applications are invited for the installation of any type of renewable technology.

Quotes for the installation of solar panels must be provided by an MCS Accredited installer. To help you find a suitable installer you can check the list of MCS Accredited Installers for a list of installers in your area.

Installations by non MCS accredited installers are not eligible for funding.

The MCS Certificate must be provided along with the invoice once the work has been completed.
