Winners of the 2017 Staffordshire Tourism Awards

Some of the best tourism businesses in Staffordshire are set to discover whether they have won prestigious awards at a glittering ceremony.

More than 40 attractions, activities, and accommodation businesses have applied for the 2018 Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards, and will find out if they have been successful at the National Memorial Arboretum on Thursday 22nd November (12noon-4.30pm).

In the brand new £8m Aspects Conference Centre, an audience of more than 100 guests will hear host Joanne Malin, from BBC Midlands Today, announce the winners in 15 categories including Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, Hotel of the Year and Guided Tour of the Year.

Last year’s winners included Dalraddy Cottage in Penkridge, Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent, and the National Memorial Arboretum, near Lichfield, which was named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.

The Arboretum went on to win the national award at VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence in April.

Mark Winnington, deputy chair of Enjoy Staffordshire and Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, said:

“Staffordshire is a great county with amazing attractions, locations and events that we are all very proud of.

“Tourism plays a huge role in the Staffordshire economy and our local tourism businesses continue to do a great job, bringing in almost £2bn each year and sustaining tens of thousands of jobs.

“The annual Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards are a great opportunity to showcase and celebrate all the great things about the sector and I’d like to wish everyone who’s entered the best of luck.”

Organised by Enjoy Staffordshire, and sponsored by Pear Communications, the Tourism Awards began in 2013 and are in their sixth year.
