The attendees at the Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards 2018
People are invited to join Staffordshire’s 200 Dignity in Care Champions as they prepare to celebrate Dignity Action Day.
The day aims to promote dignity in care and to ensure people who use care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.
The national celebrations start on Friday 1 February with events running throughout the month. Amongst the events are Afternoon Teas at Belong Village in Newcastle on 1 February and at Bethel Methodist Church, Bridgtown in Cannock on Saturday 9 February.
Alan White, Deputy Leader at Staffordshire County Council and Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing is encouraging people to join in the celebrations and to host their own events. Alan said:
“Dignity Action Day is a tremendous celebration of the really good and thoughtful care which goes on every day in Staffordshire and is something we support every year.
“Not only does it raise awareness of putting dignity at the heart of everything we do but it also gives people who are cared for the chance to recognise the contribution of their carers. I’d encourage everyone to join in the celebrations and even put on their own events.
“Our very own Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards, which we are launching soon, also gives us a great opportunity to celebrate and thank the thousands of carers who do a wonderful job, always going that extra mile for the people they look after.”
