Families in Leek are getting the chance to enjoy old fashioned toys and games in a new interactive exhibition.
Hopscotch, spinning tops, hobby horses and dressing up are just some of the fun activities on offer in the new ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ exhibition.
Now at the Nicholson Museum & Art Gallery in Leek until Saturday 27 April, the touring exhibition is encouraging young visitors to explore different aspects of childhood and how it has changed over time.
Visitors can experience what it was like to sit at a Victorian school desk or try their hand at being a teacher. Children can also draw a picture of their favourite toy and add it to the art display!
Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities at Staffordshire County Council said:
“This is a really fun exhibition and I’m thrilled that families in Leek are now getting the chance to see it.
“Not only will it bring back memories for some older visitors, but I’m sure some of the younger children will find it quite amusing that in the past these where the toys of the time.”
The exhibition was created by Vertigo on behalf of Staffordshire County Council’s Museum Service and is supported by Arts Council England. Available during usual museum opening times.
