Motorists in Burton can look forward to smoother journeys thanks to a major highways improvement project being scheduled for early this summer.
Staffordshire County Council will be carrying out the highways improvements and resurfacing work on Shobnall Road in the town.
The £650,000 investment will see the resurfacing of the entire road and include the replacement of damaged kerb stones and ironworks, and improved drains. Proposals for traffic calming measures are also being considered for the road.
The works are scheduled for June and are expected to take around nine weeks to complete. A temporary road closure will be in place to ensure the work can be carried out safely and a suitable diversion will be put in place. Access for residents of Shobnall Road will be maintained during the work.

“Good roads are hugely important to residents, motorists and of course the economy and I’m sure people in Burton will welcome this additional investment.
“This kind of resurfacing work needs to be done in the summer time when the weather is warmer and once complete, I’m sure motorists will notice a real difference. Not only will it mean smoother journeys for people but by completely resurfacing the highway we will save taxpayers money in the long term by vastly reducing the number of short term repairs that are needed.”
