Back again for this year’s Staffordshire Day extravaganza on Wednesday 1 May, is the ‘Share your mug shot’ campaign to celebrate the county’s industrial heritage

Organisers Destination Staffordshire want people to share images of themselves on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook holding Staffordshire-made mugs, alongside the #StaffordshireDay hashtag.

Last year hundreds of people joined in sharing their photos, creating a real buzz on social media and helping the campaign trend on Twitter.

This year’s theme for the county’s annual celebration now in its fourth year is ‘Made in Staffordshire’ and will celebrate the county’s brewing and ceramic heritage, as well as its music, food and drink.

Philip Atkins, Leader at Staffordshire County Council said:

“This will be our fourth celebration of our great county, and with only a few weeks to go, we’re all getting very excited.

“There’s lots of new activities and events already planned for this year. But back again for this year is our mug shot campaign which was a huge success last year when hundreds of people got involved.  All people need to do again is take a quick selfie holding a Staffordshire mug and share it on social media and we’ll do the rest.

“With our new theme, and hopefully many more mug shots, once again we’ll be showing the world what a wonderful place Staffordshire really is.”

A packed programme of events, activities and competitions is already planned, with many of the county’s top attractions joining in with their own special offers.

New for this year too, and for music lovers is the ‘Made in Staffordshire playlist’ available on Spotify which will recognise all the amazing artists from the county.

And for those who want to test their knowledge of the county there’s the Great Staffordshire Quiz which organisations can host themselves and available by emailing info@enjoystaffordshire.com.
