Highways crews working on Shobnall Road

A £650,000 highways improvement scheme to resurface Shobnall Road in Burton is on track to be completed this weekend.

The four-week project which started at the beginning of the month included the replacement of kerb stones and ironworks and the resurfacing of the entire road.

Crews have been working seven days a week to get the work done as quickly and efficiently as possible and expect to have all resurfacing work completed on Saturday 31 August. Road markings will be applied on Sunday and the road will be fully open for Monday morning.

The scheme is part of a wider £1m investment in the town’s roads being carried out over the summer holidays.

Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:

“These are really important improvements for the area and it’s wonderful news that crews are on track to get the work done on time.

Not only is the resurfacing work great news for people travelling in the area but it’s also good for the town’s economy. I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation during the works which meant that crews were able to complete the work as efficiently as possible.”
