Your Staffordshire Card scheme finishing at the end of the month

Parents are being reminded that the Your Staffordshire Card (YSC) scheme is ending on 31 August 2019 and will no longer be accepted after this date.

With the new school term just around the corner, the county council is encouraging parents and young people to check out the best deals with their local bus operator.

The scheme is finishing after seeing an 80 per cent drop in journeys – due in part to alternative fares and passes becoming available.

Helen Fisher, Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

The county council originally launched the scheme to encourage young people to use public transport and it has certainly done that.

However, as the number of journeys has fallen by 80 per cent since its peak in 2014/15, the time has come to end the scheme. The good news is that there are some alternative deals out there and we are encouraging parents to check with their bus operator ahead of the new term.”

Current YSC passes will be honoured up to the end of August.
