The roadworks and associated diversion in the centre of Stone are to be lifted ahead of schedule.

Helen Fisher, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Highways, said:

Work is currently being carried out on Crown Street, Stone, by private contractors to connect the new Crown Wharf development to the main sewer nearby.

The work is complex and Staffordshire County Council is managing the road closure and associated diversion while it takes place.

We have been informed today that due to unexpected circumstances the works have been halted.

Crown Street is being restored and once the reinstatement work has set the road closure and diversion will be lifted by, at the latest, 9am on Saturday, 11th January.

We will update everyone when we know more.”
