Two members of Staffordshire County Council staff have lent their voices to a charity single, hoping to be number one for Christmas.
The single called 'Keeping The Dream Alive' by Rock Choir is already at number three in the charts.
Business Support Officers Gemma Brown and Amanda Brass joined 4,550 other Rock Choir members on the Christmas hit to raise money for national charity Mental Health Foundation.

Gemma from Hednesford said:
“It’s been a tough year with choirs and other groups not being able to get together because of Coronavirus. We’ve had to do all our Rock Choir rehearsals via Zoom, which has been nice but just not the same as singing together in person.
“This project was a fantastic opportunity involving Rock Choir members from all over the country. We each recorded our vocal parts at home and emailed them to Rock Choir HQ, who put all of our voices together to create the single. We’re all really thrilled that it’s doing so well, even getting to number one on the iTunes chart.”
Amanda from Great Haywood added:
”Joining Rock Choir and all the amazing experiences we’ve had along the way has been one of the best things I’ve ever done. We’re like a big family And it’s made a real positive difference to my wellbeing and own mental health.
“It was a no-brainer really to contribute to a single which is raising money for such a worthy charity. Mental health impacts on a lot of people to some extent, including myself.
“It really would be great to be able to say that we’ve had a Christmas number one, so please get streaming.”
Alan White, Leader at Staffordshire County Council said:
“This is a great story and I hope Gemma and Amanda and the rest of the choir are able to realise their dreams and top the chart for Christmas. It has been a difficult year with Covid-19 but it’s important that people do what they can to stay positive. I do hope people will download and stream the single and help get it to number one and raise some money for a worthy charity.”
