Essential road repairs at a busy East Staffordshire roundabout junction taking place this week have been completed ahead of schedule.
The scheme on the junction of the B5030 and B5031 at Rocester close to the JCB headquarters was rescheduled after consultation with local businesses – including Alton Towers, JCB and nearby retailers. This was so night-time working could be arranged to minimise disruption.
It had been scheduled to take place over four nights from Monday, but the team has worked hard to get the job done as soon as possible. Now, tonight’s (Thursday) closure will not be needed and the roundabout will be open to traffic as usual.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams said:
This is a busy roundabout junction and these repairs needed to be carried out as soon as possible. We scheduled overnight work to keep disruption to a minimum. The team has pulled out all the stops to get the job done ahead of schedule which is great news.
It has put in a lot of planning and ensured JCB, Alton Towers and other local businesses have been kept informed. We’d like to thank people for their patience while the repair work was carried out.”
