Keep checking back or get a home test advice issued

Posted on Friday 16th July 2021

People who need a Covid PCR test are being advised to keep checking the national portal - after high demand is limiting tests currently available across the UK.

New slots are added to the national portal throughout the day, but people can also book a home PCR test online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.

Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council’s Director for Health and Care, said:

“We are aware that people are experiencing difficulties booking a Covid PCR on the national system and we understand this is both frustrating and concerning. This has been raised with the Government who are working on a solution.

“We would advise people who need a PCR test to keep checking back as although tests are limited,  the booking slots are updated regularly through the day. Alternatively, people can order a home PCR test online.”

Lateral flow device tests are also widely available and give a result in 30 minutes. Everyone is recommended to have a regular lateral flow test to check for infection.

People can have a supervised lateral flow device test at one of the local sites or collect to take at home. Full details of testing options can be found at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/testing.

Residents of Tamworth and Uttoxeter, should please click the relevant link for their local testing advice.
