More important than ever to get vaccinated

With coronavirus cases continuing to rise in the county, Staffordshire’s health chief has thanked everyone who has stepped up so far and been vaccinated.

The rising infection rate in Staffordshire means it is even more important that people aged 18 and over get both jabs as quickly as possible.

Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council’s Director for Health and Care, said:

“I cannot stress enough how important vaccination is to the efforts to contain the spread of this virus, so I’d like to thank everyone in Staffordshire who has done the right thing and been vaccinated.

“Covid-19 vaccines are the best way to protect yourself and others because they reduce the risk of you getting or spreading the virus.

“As cases continue to rise in Staffordshire and around the country, it’s more important than ever that everyone continues to take personal responsibility and does everything they can to reduce the spread of the virus.

“Continue following the Hands Face Space and Fresh Air guidance, wear a face covering on public transport or in crowded places, take regular Covid tests, and get both doses of the vaccine as soon as you can.”

Everyone aged 18 and over in Staffordshire can book a vaccine via the NHS national booking system or by calling 119.

And in Tamworth, where the rates are the highest in Staffordshire, a number of pop-up centres are currently offering vaccinations with no need to make an appointment. The walk-in centres in Tamworth this week are:

  • SpringPharm, Unit 13 Mercian Park, Felspar Road, Tuesday 20 to Saturday 24 July, 9-4pm

  • Ventura Retail Park, Tuesday 20 July, 12-6pm
  • Birch Coppice Dordon, B78 1BF (management suite car park), Wednesday 21 July, 1-6pm

The latest information, including which vaccinations are available at each site, can be found on the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System website.
