Motorists are being advised of an overnight road closure on the A34 north of Stafford taking place this week.
The closure at Redhill is needed so that work can be carried out safely on the construction of a new junction providing access to a housing development to the east of the road. The scheme is being funded by the developer.
This Thursday November 18, the A34 southbound will be closed between Whitgreave Lane and Redhill roundabout from 8pm until 6am the next morning. A signed diversion will be in place via A51, A518, A513 and vice versa.
During this period, any vehicles needing to access Redhill Business Park will do so northbound from the Redhill roundabout. All other properties can be accessed on the A34 southbound from the A51 junction. The road closure point at the junction of Whitgreave Lane will be manned by a traffic management operative for access to properties beyond this point.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams said:
This junction will provide access to a large housing development off the busy A34. For work to be carried out safely we do unfortunately need to put some overnight closures in place.
These are scheduled when the road is at its quietest though we understand a considerable number of vehicles use the road at these times and so advise people to allow additional travel time to follow the diversions.
These works are scheduled for a new year completion. We’d like to thank people for their patience and understanding until then.”
