The Embello team
A leading UK printing, promotional merchandise and branded workwear company has seen a sharp rise in productivity and business thanks to a grant that paid for 100 per cent of its staff training.
Tamworth-based Embello applied for a grant to help boost staff knowledge and skills, leading to a significant increase in business turnover over the last six months.
Grants to pay for up to 100 per cent of staff training are available to Tamworth businesses on a first-come, first-served basis to help invest in staff as businesses across the borough look to grow after the pandemic.
Over 600 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) have already received a training grant from the Staffordshire Means Back to Business Scheme, a partnership between the county’s district and borough councils to support businesses back into growth following the pandemic.
Director Kyle Raffo said:
Our strategy is all about growing in the most green way possible – and we know that our customers want products that meet their needs and are mindful of the planet. This grant helped us to train our staff to source the right eco-friendly products and provide excellent customer service, so much so that we can now achieve super-fast 24-hour turnaround times.
We received thousands of pounds worth of training that went a very long way and will serve our business for years to come.
The process of applying and getting the help we needed to find the right training took days, and not months. I would absolutely recommend the grant and the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Skills Hub to any business looking to grow.”
Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills Philip White said:
Sometimes staff training is exactly what a small business needs, but the last thing it can afford. The Staffordshire Means Back to Business scheme is all about helping Staffordshire businesses to grow and thrive and not survive after the pandemic.
The grant opened the door to green growth for Embello. Now really is the time for Tamworth businesses to invest in their staff without the financial risk, whatever their customer base.”
Tamworth Borough Council Leader, Councilor Jeremy Oates, said:
This fantastic grant won’t be around forever, so I’m urging businesses to apply now and support their staff to not only retain and invest in them, but also enable workforce flexibility and business diversification.
Most businesses recognise their staff as their most important asset. We’re delighted that by joining forces with the county council we’re able to help businesses like Embello to take the next step.”
