People are being encouraged to get vaccinated and enjoy a safe Platinum Jubilee.

A special extended bank holiday weekend, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, will provide an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Many residents will be keen to mark the occasion with friends and family but are encouraged to be careful and considerate when making plans.

Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Support Member for Public Health and Integrated Care, Paul Northcott, urged particular caution to those planning to attend a Jubilee event with people at higher risk from Covid-19:

“We are all looking forward to the extended bank holiday weekend, but it is important to remember that Covid-19 is still with us, so we must continue to do everything we can to keep elderly and vulnerable relatives safe, especially when attending any of the brilliant celebration events taking place across the county.

“If you need to get a vaccine or booster, you can book an appointment or attend one of the County’s walk-in clinics as soon as possible. This way, you can be sure to have a fantastic and safe Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.”

Anybody still in need of a first, second or booster vaccine can book an appointment or attend a walk-in clinic.

Anybody aged 5 and over is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine and anybody aged 16 and over is eligible for the booster jab. A spring booster dose is also available to people aged 75 years old and over and those aged 12 and over with weakened immune systems.
