Staffordshire County Showground
County Show goers can look forward to the forthcoming annual show, in the knowledge that they’ll be safe and secure after the venue was given the seal of approval for safety.
A safety certificate was issued by Staffordshire County Council in April, after the venue passed its safety inspection. The team of specialist advisers was made up of representatives from the emergency services, local councils and the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society.
Staffordshire County Council is responsible for issuing safety certificates for venues and stands with a capacity of over 500 spectators. It carries out annual inspections and event day checks at venues to ensure that they are safe for all spectators.
Victoria Wilson, Staffordshire County Council’s community leader, explained that it was vital that the county’s venues are fit for purpose and safe for spectators and the staff working at them.
Victoria said:
“Staffordshire County Showground is a well-known multipurpose venue in our area, and I’d like to commend those running it for their efforts to make sure its spectators and staff are secure and can enjoy events with peace of mind. The venue plays an important role in the local community, and I’d like to wish the venue well for its annual show and the summer ahead.”
Richard Williams, Chief Executive of the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society, said:
"We are delighted that Staffordshire County Council has issued the County Showground with the new Safety Certificate.
“This highlights the hard work achieved by all parties within the Safety Advisory Group to achieve this status and the new capacity figure. This will help the venue to build on its excellent reputation of being a community venue. It means that those attending events can continue to feel safe and be able to enjoy a family day out watching the displays, attractions and the County Show 2022 in a safe environment.”
