Temporary arrangements are in place while building work is carried out at Knutton library.
Library users will be able to carry on borrowing books this summer while the building is closed for building work.
A mobile library will visit Knutton Community Managed Library regularly, while it is closed due to building work at the adjoining Knutton St Mary’s CofE Primary Academy.
Victoria Wilson, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for Communities and Culture, said:
The library adjoins the school, which is having some necessary maintenance and building work carried out on it during the summer holidays.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s not practical to keep the library open while the work is going on, so we’ve put these alternative arrangements in place until the library reopens.”
The library will close from Monday 25 July and reopen on Wednesday 7 September.
A mobile library will visit the site next week on Wednesday 27 July from 12 to 4pm. After that visits by the mobile library will be on Thursdays between noon and 4pm on the 4, 11, 18 and 25 of August, and finally on 1 September.
Children will be able to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge on the Mobile Library or join online Summer Reading Challenge
And customers can also use the electronic library with a wide choice of e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and e-comics. Further information about this service can be found on the library website eBooks - Staffordshire County Council.
Silverdale Library, less than a mile away, is open as usual.
Knutton library, managed on a day-to-day basis by Knutton St Mary’s CofE Primary Academy, is one of 27 Community Managed Libraries in Staffordshire.
The arrangement sees the management and day-to-day running of the library taken over by the community group, which has access to the library service’s stock and IT network, while the authority remains responsible for agreed utility and maintenance costs.
