Motorists are being advised of temporary road closures on the A34 at Fillybrooks near Stone from Friday 8 July.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams are carrying out essential resurfacing works which will help prolong the life of the road and keep it in good condition.

The surface dressing work is expected to take around one week to complete and includes a mix of overnight and daytime road and lane closures. To ensure the work can be carried out safely, a diversion will be in place which will be signposted. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses during the works where possible.

The road will be temporarily closed from 6pm to 10pm on 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14 July. On Saturday 9 July and Sunday 10 July the road will also be closed for periods of the day from 9am to 4pm. Crews hope to reduce closure times and move to lane closures as the work progresses.

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:

“Good roads are important to residents, motorists and of course the economy and it is important to invest in keeping them safe and well maintained.

“The resurfacing works at Fillybrooks are part of our preventative treatment programme which helps to extend the life of our roads and keep them in good condition. For the safety of crews and road users, temporary road and lane closures are necessary.  Any vehicles requiring access through the road closure to access their properties should also take extra care whilst driving within the works area.

“Our highways crews will be doing everything they can to minimise any inconvenience and we would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation.”

The official diversion is via the B5026 Eccleshall Road into Eccleshall, then the A519 Newcastle Road to A51 Cliffords Wood, then A51 Stone Road to A34 at Darlaston roundabout.

Further details of the works are available on the one.network website.
