Drivers are being advised about temporary road closures in Cheadle which will be in place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams will be carrying out essential resurfacing works on Bank Street, Chapel Street and Watt Place in the town. The work, which is expected to take two days to complete, will help prolong the life of the road and keep it in good condition. This type of treatment requires dry weather and if crews are unable to complete the work over 10 and 11 September, they will carry it out on 17 and 18 September instead.

To ensure the work can be carried out safely, the road will be temporarily closed from approximately 7am to 6 pm over the two days but crews hope to reduce closure times where possible as works progress.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses during the works where possible and crews will be doing their upmost to reduce any disruption.

A diversion will be in place which will be signposted.  The official diversion route is via the A522 Tean/Cheadle Road into Tean, then the C0109 Draycott/Uttoxeter Road to A521 Uttoxeter Road, then A521 Cheadle/Delphouse Road and vice versa.

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:

“Well maintained roads are important for residents, motorists and of course the economy and it is important to invest in keeping them safe and well maintained.

“These important improvements are part of our preventative treatment programme which helps to extend the life of our roads and keep them in good condition. For the safety of crews and road users, temporary road closures are necessary.  Any vehicles requiring access through the road closure to get to their properties should also take extra care whilst driving within the works area.

“Our highways crews will be doing everything they can to minimise any inconvenience and we would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation.”

Further details of the works are available on the one.network website.
