Residents in Staffordshire are being asked to share their memories of when they met Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As the nation continues its mourning, Staffordshire County Council is asking any residents who met Queen Elizabeth II during her 70-year reign - whether on one of her many visits to Staffordshire or elsewhere – to share their memories on social media.

Stories can include pictures and video, and when shared will be used by the county’s Archive Service to compile a snapshot of memories of Her Majesty.

Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council said:

As we continue to mourn the passing of Her Majesty, people are naturally starting to reflect on their own personal relationships with the Queen. She visited Staffordshire many times, and met many people from our county, and it is these memories that we wish to capture for future generations.

If you have any memories – photos, videos or just anecdotes of when you met her, please share them with us via our social media, so they can stand as a record of her time as monarch and her relationship with the people of Staffordshire.”

Memories can be shared on the county council’s Facebook @yourstaffordshire, or tagging the county council via Twitter (@StaffordshireCC) or Instagram (@StaffordshireCountyCouncil). Memories can also be emailed to the county council at communications@Staffordshire.gov.uk
