A major resurfacing scheme is set to start in Weston near Stafford on Monday 17 October.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams will be carrying out essential carriageway resurfacing work along with drainage repairs and kerbing on the A51 London Road and A518 Stafford Road/Uttoxeter Road.

The work, which is expected to take around 10 weeks to complete, will help prolong the life of the road and keep it in good condition.

To ensure the work can be carried out safely, temporary lane closures will be in place, along with traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit.  Night time road closures will also be required from Monday 7 November to Saturday 10 December 2022 for resurfacing. The over night closures will be during week nights only from 7pm until 6am. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses during the works where possible and crews will be doing their upmost to reduce any disruption.

Diversion routes will be in operation for the night time road closures and details can be found at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Highways/roadworks

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council, said:

“Good roads are important for residents, motorists and of course the economy and it is important to invest in keeping them safe and well maintained.

“This is an important scheme for the area which will extend the life of the road and keep it in good condition.  For the safety of crews and road users, some temporary road closures and overnight closures are necessary.  Any vehicles requiring access through the road closure to get to their properties should also take extra care whilst driving within the works area.

“Our highways crews will be doing everything they can to minimise any inconvenience and we would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation.”

The scheme should be completed by 23 December and people can get more details at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Highways/roadworks
