Staffordshire will be hoping for a roaring success from the Three Lions when they take on France in Saturday’s World Cup quarter final.
As the proud home of St George’s Park, training ground for both the Lions and Lionesses, the county hopes the behind the scenes planning will pay off.
England take on France on Saturday night at 7pm, where a win will put them into the semi-final against either Portugal or Morocco, both being good performing teams this year.
In the summer, England’s heroic lionesses won the Euros, beating Germany in the final, and now the county is hoping for similar success from the men’s team.
Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council said: “Staffordshire is incredibly proud to be home to St George’s Park and the National Football Centre. The site is not only home to the country’s 24 national teams but it is also a fantastic education facility and national attraction.
“I know people across Staffordshire will be cheering on the team on Saturday night, so let’s hope the world-class facilities at St Georges Park and all the pre-games training pays off. We wish the team the best of luck in the game and as they make their way to the final.”
St George’s Park in Burton was built in 2012 and is set in 330-acres of stunning Staffordshire countryside. It’s the home of England’s national football teams. The venue has 14 outdoor pitches, including a replica of the Wembley surface where the team hone their skills.
