A scheme to repair a stretch of road in Burton will begin at the end of January.
Works to Shobnall Road will include resurfacing five stretches of the road, resetting ironwork and replacing road markings.
They will begin on January 30 and will take around 4 weeks to complete.
The scheme will address road defects which appeared following the trial of a more environmentally sustainable resurfacing method in 2019.
A full road closure to through traffic will be needed between Grange Street and Kings Road for the duration of the scheme, but access will be maintained for frontages.
Workers will also ensure buses transporting children to the nearby Shobnall Primary Academy can navigate through the works.
Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport David Williams said:
“Road resurfacing schemes have a considerable environmental impact which we are trying to reduce through different methods of working. We trialled a new process on Shobnall Road in 2019 as part of these efforts, but in this instance it has not delivered the high quality of road surface we expect.
“Rather than do the work piecemeal and cause long-term disruption, it is better to close the road for four weeks to complete the work.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and our crews will be doing their best to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
