LATEST NEWS BLUEGREEN

The popular Staffordshire Day Film Competition is back for a third year as part of the annual county celebrations on Monday 1st May 2023.

Film-makers from across the county are being encouraged to enter films made within the past five years celebrating Staffordshire, its traditions and heritage which make it a prime destination for tourism.

There are four categories – Best Documentary, Best 3-Minute Promo, Best Animation, and Overall Winner – with prizes of tickets for Drayton Manor Resort, Snowdome, Uttoxeter Racecourse, and Nelson’s Distillery & Gin School for the winners.

The overall winner will also receive a cheque for £250 from the competition sponsors, Staffordshire Film Archive.

Staffordshire Film Archive’s Ray Johnson said:

“Staffordshire is a great county, with a reputation as a hub of creativity which should be celebrated.

“We are delighted the Staffordshire Day Film Competition is returning and look forward to seeing the entries, which can promote anything related to Staffordshire tourism, including attractions, country parks, restaurants, pubs and events.

“We are looking for documentaries, promotional films and animations, for example a vlog on a visit to a Staffordshire attraction, a film made on a smartphone for Facebook or Instagram, or a 'Day in the Life' style documentary focussing on a particular skill or role.”

Organised by Enjoy Staffordshire, and curated by Centre Space Arts, the competition is now open, and entries have to be in before the deadline, Monday 17th April.

All entries will be judged by film-makers Darren Teale MBE (Junction 15) and Darren Washington (One One Six), and the Staffordshire Film Archive’s Ray Johnson MBE, with the winners announced at a ceremony at the Mitchell Arts Centre, Stoke-on-Trent on Staffordshire Day, Monday 1st May.
