Staffordshire’s gritting crews have been working around the clock to keep the county on the move after snow fell overnight and into today (Thursday).
With more snow expected to fall throughout today and into tomorrow, the county council’s army of gritters will be out again across the county, gritting primary and secondary routes.
Up in the Moorlands, where a Met Office Amber weather warning is in place until noon tomorrow, hill contractors and snow ploughs will be helping clear the way.
David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said:
“Our crews have been coping with some quite tough conditions on the county’s roads, especially up in the Moorlands which often sees the worst of any bad weather.
“We constantly monitor the weather and conditions on major roads across Staffordshire, so are ready to roll whenever and wherever we are needed.
“With yellow and amber Met Office warnings set to last until tomorrow afternoon, there will be no let up for our crews who will once again be working round the clock to keep the roads clear.
“We would ask that people are careful, drive to the conditions of the road, and in case of really bad weather, only go out if it is essential.”
