More Staffordshire parents whose babies were born on Saturday 6 May have come forward to claim their Coronation commemorative gifts.
Staffordshire County Council is offering special commemorative mugs to the first 10 Staffordshire children born on the day of the King’s Coronation.
Three proud parents got in touch on the day with a further six in the last two days.
Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said:
“This is a wonderfully simple way to mark the King’s Coronation and I’d like to congratulate those proud parents on the birth of their children.
“The birth of a child is a very special time for all concerned but to be born on such a historic day makes it even more special. It’s something that I’m sure will be talked about amongst their families for many years to come. I hope people are able to save and treasure their memento as a reminder of a special moment in history.”
Some of the parents getting in touch include:
- Louise Sutton and Nathan Mountford, of Streethay, Lichfield, celebrated the arrival of Rory James Mountford at 1.06pm, weighing 9lb 7oz and younger brother to Zachary. Dad Nathan said:
“It was already a very special magical day for us, but we are very happy for Rory that his date of birth will always be remembered as a historical moment. We bought a newspaper to keep and remember the occasion, but a special mug would be a lovely present to keep and surprise him with when he is older!”
- Olivia Grace Wileman made a prompt arrival at the Good Hope Hospital in Sutton, greeting her parents Chloe Vieira and Brad Wileman at 6.26am. Chloe, of Wilnecote, Tamworth, said:
“We had a few family members predicting a Coronation Day arrival and our princess did just that!”
- Alfie James Flowers announced his presence at Queens Hospital, Burton, at 6.56am to become the first child of Lizzie and James Flowers, of Fradley, Lichfield. Thrilled aunt Sophie Flowers said:
“We are delighted with the safe arrival of beautiful Alfie. What an incredible story to tell him when he's older, that he arrived on the Coronation of King Charles, and the mug is such a nice sentimental piece to mark the occasion.”
- Marnie Rose Easton born at 04:25am greeted second time parents Sabrina Goodwin and Louie Easton from Burton. They said:
“Marnie arrived 4 days earlier than expected, almost like she knew there was a momentous occasion going on and she didn’t want to miss out. Our little coronation baby, her date of birth to be in the history books forever.”
- Barney Thomas Yardley was welcomed at 10:34am by ecstatic mum and dad Lucy and Paul Yardley from Lichfield. Lucy said:
“We are delighted with the arrival of our very own little Prince. Being born on the King’s Coronation, will be a day we shall never forget. We shall make sure Barney knows all about the historic moment in time when he grows up.”
- Toni and Thomas welcomed their second child, Aria Rayleigh Norton-Pill, into the world at 10.43am. Mum Toni, of Stafford, said:
“We’ll always class her as our Coronation princess.”
There’s still time for people to nominate an eligible child: if they were born in Staffordshire between 12.01am and 11.59pm on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, they should email ema.roberts@staffordshire.gov.uk or complete and submit this form.
The parents will be invited to a special presentation event at County Buildings in Stafford where they will receive their gifts and be photographed together.
