An offer to purchase a building on Hassell Street in Newcastle by Tri Services Veterans Centre has been accepted by Staffordshire County Council’s Property Sub-Committee.

The county council and the charity have been working together over the last six months to find a solution that would allow the charity to buy the building which has been their base for seven years.

Members of the committee supported the charity’s proposals, accepting the offer, which is now subject to the usual contractual arrangements.

Philip White, Deputy Leader at Staffordshire County Council and Vice Chair of the Property Sub-Committee said:

“We recognise the valuable work that the Tri Services centre do in the local community, and ownership instead of leasing will allow them to invest in the building and give them more certainty about their future.

“It’s a good outcome for both parties, allowing the group to continue their work, whilst balancing the county council’s duty to use its assets and resources wisely for all Staffordshire residents.”

The group support serving and former serving members of the armed forces and their families in North Staffordshire.
