Statement on proposed relocation of Amazon facility, Rugeley

Posted on Thursday 29th June 2023
BREAKING NEWS BLUE

Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills Philip White said:

This is incredibly sad news for people working at the Amazon facility in Rugeley and the wider community. We know that all employees located there will be offered positions at the new site in Sutton Coldfield though of course understand that this will not be practical for many.

The county council is working with the district council, DWP and partners to ensure those affected have the support they need at this uncertain time.

This partnership will work with Amazon to discuss next steps and set out the free support services available.

Our Staffordshire Jobs & Careers brokerage service provides a team of expert brokers which is on hand to match people with training and employment opportunities locally. We want them to be aware of the many available in Staffordshire, such as at expanding sites like i54 in the south of the county, if that is the path they choose to take.”
