A Better Health Staffordshire campaign is being launched this autumn to encourage and motivate people to achieve a healthy weight, through providing information on local services, healthy eating and being more active.

The Better Health Staffordshire campaign is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council and health partner Everyone Health Staffordshire.

Better Health Staffordshire works in collaboration with Everyone Health Staffordshire and key partners to tackle the causes of excess weight and promote a healthy weight and an active lifestyle.

A free weight management programme to support people living in Staffordshire to become healthier is available. To be eligible for the service, Staffordshire residents (excluding Stoke-on-Trent) must be aged 18 or over and have:

  • a BMI of 30+ or
  • a BMI of 27.5+ for those living with a long-term medical condition and/or with a Black African, African-Caribbean and Asian family background

The sessions are free and include 45 minutes of light exercise and healthy eating advice, to help people create long-term healthy habits.

The campaign also offers a variety of ‘self-help’ tools to encourage Staffordshire residents to make small l changes to live healthier lifestyles.

Councillor Julia Jessel Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Care said:

“At Staffordshire County Council, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of our community.

That's why I'm pleased to see Better Health Staffordshire continuing to work in partnership with Everyone Health Staffordshire, to create a campaign designed to empower our residents on their journey to healthier lifestyles.

Excess weight and its related health issues are a growing concern. I believe by working together, these free services will not only help you lose weight, but boost your confidence, improve your overall health, and increase your quality of life.”
