The History Hunters group regularly meets at Cannock Library.

Residents worried about being able to afford to heat their homes this winter can find a warm welcome at all libraries across Staffordshire.

With the cold months approaching, Staffordshire County Council is reminding residents that comfortable, heated, safe spaces are available to them at local libraries.

The warm spaces offer visitors friendly company, activities and a wealth of support.

Cabinet member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, Victoria Wilson, said:

“With temperatures already dropping, I want to remind everyone that you can find a warm safe space at any one of our libraries across Staffordshire.

“Each library is unique, but all offer a friendly welcome and use of helpful services including computers, free Wi-Fi and access to books, e-books and magazines.

“There are also plenty of reading groups and activities so people can come together, share and socialise. Please see what’s on offer at your local library this winter.”

There are a variety of groups that meet at libraries across the county to socialise through having shared hobbies.

These groups include Rugeley Library’s Crochet Group, Perton Library’s writing group and Cannock Library’s History Hunters group run in conjunction with the Museum of Cannock Chase.

Residents can also enjoy a hot brew and a chat at one of the many coffee mornings hosted by our libraries. Check if your local library hosts a coffee morning here.

Staffordshire County Council’s Here To Help campaign focuses on sharing information, advice and support to help residents manage cost-of-living pressures.

More information on local groups and the support available can be found on Staffordshire County Council’s dedicated cost of living website, www.staffordshire.gov.uk/heretohelp.
