Dr Lynn Furber NEWSROOM

Founder of Healthcare Communication Matters, Dr Lynn Furber, got free social media support from the Get Started and Grow scheme.

Free business support offered by the government funded Get Started and Grow scheme has taken Staffordshire’s enterprises by storm, with social media support now fully booked up.

One entrepreneur who has benefited from the scheme is a Stafford doctor with a dream to transform healthcare by improving communication.

Dr Lynn Furber, who has over 30 years’ experience in cancer nursing and a PhD in healthcare communication, launched Healthcare Communication Matters in 2018.

She reached out to Staffordshire County Council for help with social media and marketing and she was swiftly taken under the wing of Katherine Hyde, the founder of Concept Communications in Stone.

With Katherine’s help, Lynn was able to devise a marketing and social media plan tailored to her company’s needs.

Dr Lynn Furber said:

“This was a seamless and enriching experience. I now feel equipped with a clear road map for the remainder of the year.”

The entrepreneurial doctor will now use her new knowledge to build brand awareness and craft engaging content for LinkedIn and her website.

Lynn continued:

“I wholeheartedly recommend the Get Started and Grow Scheme to fellow business owners.

“The support offered is not only a testament to the program’s commitment but also an investment in the growth and success of local businesses.”

With social media support in high demand, Staffordshire County Council wants to remind small business owners that spaces are still available for support with HR, accountancy, legal advice, website building and branding.

Deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills at Staffordshire County Council, Philip White, said:

“We have supported over 200 young Staffordshire businesses to get started and grow with a vision to promote entrepreneurialism and drive economic growth in the county.

“The take-up for our social media support package has been a huge success and it is fantastic to see so many aspirational new business owners grow their skills in areas where they were previously not so confident.

“While we are currently at capacity for social media support, we still have places available for expert help with HR, accountancy, legal advice, website support and branding so please apply if you are eligible.”

Any Staffordshire business up to five years old can get free bespoke support from the Get Started and Grow Scheme, which is part-funded by the UK government.
