A new partnership to boost tourism and grow the visitor economy in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is looking to appoint its first chair.
The new Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) brings together the private sector and the 10 local authorities, who operate across the county and city. It will oversee the strengthening of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent’s thriving visitor economy and help build on the success and world class reputation of its international and nationally recognised visitor brands.
As chair, the successful candidate will help set the vision and ensure sustainable growth and development. They will be a senior leader who may have a background in sectors linked to the visitor economy, but importantly, will be committed to representing the whole of Staffordshire and the success of the regional economy.
Accountable to the Staffordshire Leaders Board, Stoke-on-Trent Senior Leaders, and the We Are Staffordshire Place Board, the chair will also be supported by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ‘Star Operators Group’.
Philip White, Deputy Leader at Staffordshire County Council and Interim Chair of the Local Visitor Economy Partnership, said:
“The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent visitor economy is a vital part of the region’s economic fabric.
“With our area’s rich cultural heritage, iconic natural landmarks, and high energy attractions, our vision is that the county of Staffordshire and City of Stoke-on-Trent becomes an inclusive, must-visit destination for domestic visitors and those from around the globe.
“Our new chair will be instrumental in harnessing this potential, while shaping and delivering a strategic vision for the future.”
Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said:
“The new Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) will help to support and generate sustainable growth in the local visitor economy, through place-shaping, job creation and innovation. The appointment of a new chair will be integral in our ambition to lead and deliver our strategic plans for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.”
