Bookings are now open for the Staffordshire Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) summer programme.

Thousands of children and young people will be able to enjoy a range of exciting activities this summer as part of Staffordshire’s Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme.

The scheme runs from Tuesday 23 July until Friday 30 August at schools, community centres and leisure complexes across Staffordshire.

Children and young people will be able to ‘pick and mix’ from a range of fun and engaging sessions on offer including sports, creative clubs, computer activities, animal care and horse riding. Providers will include a healthy hot meal for every booked place where possible.

Bookings are now open to over 21,000 eligible children aged between five to 16 who receive free school meals. Eligible children can book up to 16 free places each for up to four hours a day.

Some clubs are offering additional paid places to children and young people. Parents and carers can book online via the county council website for a funded or paid place.

With over one hundred clubs providing 50,000 places filled with fun and engaging activities to choose from, children will be spoiled for choice this summer.

Activities also include coaching, mindfulness and confidence building activities that are new to the programme for 2024.

Debbie Nash, Family Hubs Continuous Improvement Partner at Staffordshire County Council said:

“We are so pleased to introduce some new providers this year and welcome back some familiar faces as we embark on another summer of creating unforgettable experiences for children and young people across Staffordshire.

“We received an overwhelming number of applications from organisations to deliver this year’s programme and all successful providers will be meeting the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) quality framework.

“Our Summer HAF programme will provide a range of activities for learning, growth, and enjoyment, giving every child that takes part, the opportunity to have fun and enjoy the school holidays.

“Whether your children are looking to explore new hobbies, make new friends, or simply have fun, our diverse range of activities has something for everyone.”
