A £600,000 project to resurface a key junction in Norton Canes is now in progress.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways crews will be working to resurface the Burntwood Road junction of Brownhills Road.

During the scheme, the whole of the junction will be resurfaced, as well as the footpaths wherever necessary.

Crews will also be maintaining and repairing gulleys, and replacing kerbing if needed.

The works will cost nearly £600,000, and will take around five weeks to complete.

For the first three weeks, lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be in place to allow crews to work safely.

Once the initial works have been completed, a full road closure will be needed while the road is resurfaced, and ironwork and traffic signal loops are replaced.

During the closure, a diversions along the B4154 Hednesford Road and 5190 Cannock Road will be clearly signed.

Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways Mark Deaville said:

"We are committed to improving our network and investing in our roads, and this work in Norton Canes will see a key junction completely resurfaced over five weeks.

“Our crews will be working hard to upgrade the road and create smoother journeys for everyone who passes by this location. As will all major works, there will be some inevitable disruption, but crews are working to keep this to a minimum. We apologize for any inconvenience caused during the works and ask for the public's patience while we carry out these essential improvements."
