A major highways improvements scheme on the A525 Higherland in Newcastle has been completed.

The £285,000 scheme was carried out by Staffordshire County Council and is part of a wider £50 million investment in the county’s roads over the next three years.

Crews rebuilt and resurfaced part of the road, as well as fixing damaged kerbs and drainage and resurfacing part of the footpaths.

Mark Deaville, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council said:

“It’s great to get another scheme completed and done just before children go back to school.

“Higherland is a busy road and was due for its upgrade.  I’m sure people will notice a difference and hope they enjoy the smoother journeys.  I’d also like to thank people and businesses for their patience during the works.”
