Surfacing works on a main road north of Stafford are set to take place next week with overnight closures in place.

The work is taking place on the A34 Stone Road between Redhill roundabout and the new Pets at Home roundabout. Work will take place overnight for up to 10 nights from Monday September 23, 8pm to 6am, excluding Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29. The road will be closed in both directions during these times between the A51 Aston roundabout and the A513 Redhill roundabout. A signed diversion route in place via A5013, A519, A51.

People will still be able to access properties and businesses with assistance from traffic management teams and bus services will not be affected. The works are being funded by commercial property company Stoford, which developed the Pets at Home facility.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways Mark Deaville said:

These essential surfacing works are taking place on one of Stafford’s key routes and so has been scheduled to minimise disruption.

We’d ask people to allow extra journey time and apologise for any inconvenience.”
