A Cannock-based business has successfully secured a £100,000 grant to enhance their energy efficiency and is urging other local businesses to take advantage of the Green Solutions Scheme before the funding deadline.
Laser Process, a specialist in the manufacture of complex fabricated assemblies and metal components, applied to the Green Solutions Scheme managed by Staffordshire County Council in affiliation with the Business Energy Advice Service. The scheme aims to help businesses reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Adrian Edwards, Group Special Projects Manager at Sirius A Corporation, who has been working closely with Laser Process, said:
“We saw an advert for the Green Solutions Scheme and decided to apply. After our application was approved, we received a free energy assessment which provided us with several recommendations to make our business more energy efficient. We decided to implement these changes and applied for the full £100,000 funding.
“We are now installing a Press Brake/Compressor and Electric Forklift Trucks. By switching to a Variable Speed Compressor, we will only use the air required, reducing our energy bills. Replacing our LPG Forklift Trucks with Electric Trucks will also reduce our carbon footprint, making us a greener business.
“We highly recommend the Green Solutions Scheme to any business considering a move towards greater sustainability.”
The Staffordshire Green Solutions scheme offers businesses financial support to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the scheme, businesses can get a free energy assessment, free carbon literacy training, and a grant of up to £100,000 to make sustainable changes. Businesses may also be eligible for an interest-free loan of between £5,000 and £200,000, repayable within two years.
Simon Tagg, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, infrastructure and climate change, said:
“Participating in the Green Solutions scheme not only helps businesses reduce their energy costs but also plays a significant role in making Staffordshire sustainable.
“By adopting energy-efficient measures, businesses can significantly lower their carbon footprint while enjoying long-term financial benefits. I strongly encourage all eligible businesses to take advantage of this opportunity while the funding is still available.”
Funding for the scheme will close at the end of October 2024, so businesses have a limited time to apply for a grant.
