Cllr Simon Tagg
Staffordshire County Council’s Climate Action Fund Part 2 is now accepting applications for funding.
At least £35,000 of funding is being made available for nonprofit organisations for projects that relate to renewable energy or benefit the circular economy. A circular economy ensures that products and materials are reused or repurposed as much as possible. Projects could include things like repair cafes, sharing banks, upcycling and refurbishment schemes.
Grants between £3,000 and £5,000 are being made available with the most innovative schemes being funded. Groups will only be able to apply for Part 2 if they did not receive funding from Part 1 of the fund. The scheme is open until 13 December 2024.
Simon Tagg, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, infrastructure and climate change, said:
“As a council, we have pledge to tackle climate change and to encourage more recycling and reuse of products and materials across the county.
“We can all do our bit on making Staffordshire sustainable and a greener county and this funding will help groups do their bit. I would encourage organisations to have a look at the application and if eligible make an application.”
To apply for the grant, groups will need to speak to their local county councillor in the first instance and then apply online on the climate fund webpage.
