Cllr Mark Deaville
A major highways improvements scheme in Newcastle will get underway on Tuesday 26 November.
The £295,000 scheme is being carried out by Staffordshire County Council and is part of a wider £50 million investment in the county’s roads over the next three years.
The work on Scot Hay Road and Kents Lane junction in Silverdale is expected to take around one week to complete weather permitting and will include reconstruction and resurfacing of the road, along with repairs and replacement of damaged kerbs and drainage.
To make sure the work can be carried out safely and to minimise disruption, a combination of temporary lane closures will be in operation, along with a few overnight closures (from 7pm to 6am) for the resurfacing. A signed diversion will be in place during the closures and access to businesses and residents in the works area will be maintained where possible.
Mark Deaville, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Good roads are essential for people and for our local economy, which is why we are investing more than £50 million in highways over the next three years.
“It’s great to see these long-awaited improvements get underway. I’m sure they’ll be welcomed by everyone who uses the road. As always, crews will be doing their best to keep disruption to a minimum, which will include doing the resurfacing overnight when the road is quieter. I’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while this important work takes place.”
