The ‘Wish Upon a Princess’ children’s entertainment business, based at Silverdale Enterprise Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme
Silverdale Enterprise Centre has become home to a thriving children’s entertainment business, which has bookings pouring in this Christmas.
Wish Upon a Princess, founded by former West End performer 35-year-old Hayley Marie-Ashley, brings beloved children’s fictional characters to life at parties and events across the region.
Drawing on her experience performing in hit theatre shows, including Annie with Paul O’Grady, Hayley spotted a unique opportunity in the market for princess parties after her daughter was born.
Hayley launched Wish Upon a Princess in 2015, starting out in her garage in Packmoor. However, as the business grew, so did the need for space. The modern and affordable units at Silverdale Enterprise Centre, operated by Staffordshire County Council, provided the ideal solution. Hayley and her team moved into a single unit in 2022.
Nine years on, her business continues to flourish, recently upgrading to a larger unit at the Newcastle-under-Lyme based enterprise centre to support its ongoing success.
Hayley said:
“Moving to Silverdale was one of the best decisions for the business. Not only does it give us the professional space we need for our growing collection of costumes, but the security and affordability were ideal for us.
“Plus, having a proper business address makes such a difference. It’s just a really good place. I have recommended to other businesses and would do so again.”
The enterprise centre’s flexible and secure premises have allowed Hayley to focus on expanding her services, which now include a wider variety of characters and live performances of popular songs. The move also provided a clean and dry environment, which was essential for maintaining the quality of their costumes.
With the festive season in full swing, Wish Upon a Princess is busier than ever, spreading joy through magical Christmas events. Hayley has even recommended the enterprise centre to others, helping fellow entrepreneurs find their footing.
Philip White, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said:
“Stories like Hayley’s show the importance of facilities like Silverdale Enterprise Centre. It’s inspiring to see local talent thrive in our spaces, creating joy for families while contributing to the county’s growing small business community. We’re proud to support businesses like Wish Upon a Princess.”
