People aged 19+ in Staffordshire looking to gain new skills, improve their confidence or explore passions are being reminded about a range of courses now available.
Staffordshire Community Learning Service has launched its new term of courses for 2025 and with most fully funded and free, it’s a perfect opportunity for people to take the next step in their learning journey.
This year, numeracy and confidence with numbers take centre stage, with Staffordshire’s Multiply programme offering flexible, practical maths courses tailored to help residents manage everyday tasks like budgeting, bills, and homework support. These courses are designed to remove the fear from numbers and empower learners with skills for life and work.
Philip White, Staffordshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said:
"These courses are more than just a chance to learn. They’re an opportunity to transform lives, families, and communities.
“Whether you're returning to learning, supporting your family, or improving your skills for work, there’s a course tailored just for you. Lifelong learning is an investment in a brighter future for all of Staffordshire and I would urge people to have a look at what’s on offer."
This term features a wide range of courses designed to fit every learner’s needs and aspirations and includes:
- Multiply (Everyday Maths): Build confidence with numbers and practical skills for budgeting, work, or helping children with homework.
- Digital Skills: From entry-level IT basics to advanced technology skills.
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and Vocational Training: Prepare for careers in engineering, health and social care, and logistics.
- Wellbeing and Nature: Improve your mental and physical health with mindfulness, outdoor learning, and sustainable living.
- Family Learning: Learn alongside your children and support their education.
Courses are delivered in community venues across Staffordshire, including libraries, community centres, and outdoor spaces, as well as online for flexible, at-home learning.
One learner said, “I now feel confident with everyday maths and budgeting—it’s been life-changing.” Another added, “The Multiply course has made such a difference, helping me understand how to support my kids with their homework.”
