People considering starting their own business in 2025 are being urged to find out more about the extensive package of support offered by the county council and premises available for small companies.

With a higher than national average start-up success rate in the county, Staffordshire County Council is committed to backing new businesses with free professional support to enable them to grow and thrive.

The business support programme includes Get Started and Grow scheme for new businesses up to five years old. It provides a comprehensive package of support to help them grow and flourish – including advice and guidance on HR, accounting, legal, social media, branding and website design and management. The scheme is available for all Staffordshire based companies, excluding Stoke-on-Trent.

Businesses which have benefited from support recently include Stafford-based Regenerative Health and Carefully Considered Cars in Wombourne.

People wanting to find out more should visit the Get Started and Grow webpage or contact the team at: getstarted@staffordshire.gov.uk

The county council also runs eight enterprise centres across Staffordshire across Staffordshire, giving small businesses office or workshop units on flexible tenancies. They provide businesses with a professional set-up, meeting room space and networking opportunities. The centres are based in Stafford, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Burton and Cannock.

People can enquire now about workspaces, hot desks and meeting rooms at the Staffordshire Enterprise Centres webpage.

Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills Philip White said:

It can be a daunting prospect pursuing an ambition to start a new business with the many challenges that come with it, but our expert teams are on hand now to make those initial months and years more manageable.

Free advice and guidance in areas from finance to digital marketing is available and will be tailored to the business’s needs. This really can make a difference and will boost confidence where there can be understandable apprehension.

We have a strong record for start-up survival in the county. As a county council we’re committed to provide the right environment for small businesses to thrive, and vitally to operate successfully through the difficult first few years.”
