Highways crews reconstructing Horninglow Road North in Burton.
A £1.5 million highways improvement scheme to reconstruct Horninglow Road North in Burton has been completed.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways crews have spent the last two weeks resurfacing the A511 Horninglow Road North, from the junction of Farm Road to Tutbury Road.
This scheme also included the full resurfacing of both the Field Lane and Calais Road junctions.
This was the second half of a wider scheme to reconstruct Horninglow Road North from the junction of Horninglow Croft to the junction of Farm Road. The first phase was completed last year.
Over the course of the scheme, crews carried out extensive civil works, including jetting highways gullies and repairing footpaths, kerbs, tactile crossings, and ironworks. They also removed the existing carriageway surface and replaced it with a brand-new, high-quality road surface.
Mark Deaville, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways, said:
“I’m pleased to see that the reconstruction of Horninglow Road North in Burton is now complete. This was a significant project, and I’d like to thank residents and businesses for their patience while the work was carried out.
“Investing in our highways is essential to keeping Staffordshire moving, and this new surface will bring long-term benefits to everyone who travels along this route.”
Other recently completed road schemes in Burton include Derby Road, Swan Junction, Station Road and the Horninglow Street/Guild Street junction.
Staffordshire County Council has announced up to an extra £15 million boost to additional highways investment in the county, on top of the extra £45 million over three years.
This money will pay for more crews to carry out repairs to potholes and drainage issues, a full preventative maintenance programme to help stop defects forming in the first place and targeted enforcement on landowners with drainage issues affecting the highway.
