Resurfacing starts on Horninglow Road North in Burton.
A major highways improvement scheme to reconstruct Horninglow Road North in Burton is progressing well towards completion.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways crews have begun resurfacing the A511 Horninglow Road North, from the junction of Farm Road to Tutbury Road.
Over the last three weeks, crews have been carrying out civil works along that section of road including jetting highways gullies and repairing footpaths, kerbs, tactile crossings and ironworks.
Crews are now removing the existing carriageway surface and replacing it with a new surface; this stage began at the start of this week (Monday 3 February). Sections of the road are being closed, based on the area being worked on, to keep both road users and crews safe.
This £645,000 project includes the full resurfacing of the Field Lane and Calais Road junctions and the surrounding areas. The overall scheme is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Clearly signed diversion routes are in place to minimise disruption, and access to homes and businesses is being maintained wherever it is safe to do so.
Mark Deaville, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways, said:
“Our crews have been making excellent progress on the reconstruction of Horninglow Road North in Burton, and I’d like to extend my thanks to residents and businesses in the area for their patience and understanding throughout these works.
“This project has been a significant undertaking and I’m confident that, once completed, drivers will experience smoother and safer journeys on this route.”
The first phase of works – costing £900,000 – was carried out last year, which saw crews resurface Horninglow Road North from the junction of Horninglow Croft to the junction of Farm Road.
These highway improvements form part of the county council’s £45 million investment in Staffordshire’s roads over three years.
Other recently completed road schemes in Burton include Derby Road, Claymills Junction, Swan Junction, Station Road and the Horninglow Street/Guild Street junction.
